Been at uni for the past 3 months and sadly had to leave my PC behind. had a lot of movies on one of the harddrives but didnt think of it til the last minute so i ended up take all but my SSD bootdrive with me because i didnt know which drive they were on. came home today, plugged everything back in and windows wouldnt boot at all.
when checking the BIOS it had changed from AHCI to IDE so i changed it back and windows booted to the logo screen and froze halfway through and sent me to the statup repair. startup repair failed to fix anything and it keeps doing the logo screen-freeze-startuprepair-restart. anybody got any ideas as to why its doing this? i tried unplugging my other HDD's to test just the SSD but when i do that it says please insert a proper boot device.

Thanks in advance

Did you change the boot drive configuration after you removed the HDDs?

Boot loader might be on one of the HDDs.

Are you able to connect the SSD to a spare machine?

i havnt got another pc to put the SSD in and i left my hard drive caddy thing at uni, the pc wasnt turned on once after i took the HDDs out until i got home today and put them back in.
