Pc won't boot after enabling xmp

Long story short I bought a new PC the other day it's been running fine but after messing around with benchmarks I know it's my RAM was running at a lower frequency than said on the box. After a quick Google I found out that I needed to enable xmp for it to reach the advertised clock speed. like an excited child I proceeded to enable it on my BIOS only to be greeted by:

So I reloaded my bios and turned XMP back off it to show that same error message.

I have:

CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB CMW16GX4M2C3200C16

AMD RYZEN 7 3700X

Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE.

Gtx 980

I did some more digging on the internet and found that motherboards and processors have compatibility issues. my motherboard appears to be compatible with my RAM but the AMD ryzen seems to have very little compatibility in the ram it likes.

Where is the best place to try troubleshooting? As you can tell I'm not an expert . Please help

Edit: I'm going to run memtest in the morning when I can get access to a working pc

So it turns out my windows had just died because I had another boot drive from my old pc in ready to bd and It booted windows and ran fine. So I've tried xmp again and it works. With no issue. Kinda annoying as it took me over 4 hours to run memtest .

My new question. Should be easy.

Why does cpu-z say my frequency is so low? If so how do I do it?

Makes a lot of sense. Thanks buddy. Glad to say it's 100% working. Any idea why my other copy of Windows just stopped working? It's was on a nvme drive. The drive seems to function fine as I can read and write to it but I can't boot windows on it. Just get the blue screen? As I don't wanna have to format that drive and start again as I've got games installed already

ahci mode maybe?

I don't think I can change it. Searched my bios can't find the option to change it.

What are the boot order settings in the BIOS set to?

1 is the new drive that bluescreens and 3 is the one that works. I change them as I need so there is no set order

Try putting "Windows Boot Manager" as Boot Option #1.

Make sure ur in adv mode then go to settings, sata config then sata mode and is the mode showing ahci if so try it off incase ur last windows install wasnt installed with it on in bios before. After you get to windows you can enable ahci in the registry then u can switch it back in bios to ahci mode. Or if its not showing ahci try setting it to ahci then save and quit.

I did a lot of digging on Ahci and found out loads of useful info but as far as i can see everything was good. I decided to Just reinstall windows on the drive which got it going again!!

OK so i said i had no issues still but thats not true as I'm getting a lot of bluescreens which I'm struggling to make any sense of. I'm hoping you smart people can help me.

So i also found my ram isnt on the QVL for my motherboard. Can this cause the issue? I mean it sounds like a big problem if they are not compatible? see attached link. My ram is CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 DRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model CMW16GX4M2C3200C16
