my pc wouldnt turn off the other night so knocked it off at the power supply, turned it on today, and each time i start it, it either doesnt get to decive listings, or does and either says , "disc read error, press ctrl+alt+del to restart"

or now saying "NTLDR is missing , press ctrl+alt+del to restart"

any help appreciated as i have lots of stuff on my os drive i'd hope not to lose!

Try the above link. I'd also want to know why these files were corrupted so I'd test the disk as well. If you're worried about the data on there boot from a Linux live cd and grab them. And then start backing up. ;)

edit - check the cables as well if you've had the case open, it's easy to knock things without realising

ok thanks, will take alook, tried a few things from googling the issue, but no joy so far, and no, havent been opening case for a long time! prob be back on here soon no doubt! :(
