Hello OCUK Forums.
Im from Germany so i appologize for my bad english writing...
But since this is the only good Forum where they help you with your problems, i will try to be as exact as possible.
I got a ASUS Radeon R9 380x Strix from eBay last night. But i have a big problem with it......

If i plug the card in to my PC, the PC wont boot up. Its not booting at all. What i mean with it, is that it wont even boot up to BIOS and it wont give a beep from it.
I searched the internet for a solution, but didnt find much that would help.
I think the BIOS from the 380x is bricked, and thats why it wont boot up.
I found on the internet a guide on how to unbrick a gpu with atiflash using a bootable DOS Stick.
But that method doesnt work for me. I did everything as written in the guide, but if i wanna start atiflash in the DOS Menu, it says : This Program wont work in DOS Mode...
Why it is telling me that? And what does it mean?

Some other guy in some other Forum told about a method booting the PC with the Internal Graphics Adapter connected to the Monitor and plugging in the Graphics card anyway so that the PC boots and the graphics card is recognized. That method actually worked. The PC booted into windows and the Card is recognized in Device Manager as : Primary VGA Adapter (or something like that, i have german Win7)
Just to see what happens, i tried to install Radeon Crimson Software Driver. The Driver actually recognized the Graphics Card and installed the drivers propably(seems like it). But when the installer is trying to install the Display Driver, the PC crashes. I had Device Manager Running in Background and i saw that the Name changed from Primary VGA Adapter to AMD Radeon R9 380 Series. But as i said, the PC crashed.
After a reboot the Driver seemed to be gone and it was named again as Primary VGA adapter.
In the Device Manager, there are 2 Display Adapters(Internal Graphics and the R9 shown as Primary VGA Adapter). I thought that maybe the internal Graphics are causing Problems for the Driver to install, so i uninstalled the internal graphics (AMD 760G) in device manager. After that, i tried to install the driver again. But this time i used the Driver found on the CD of the ASUS Card. Again the Installer recognized the Graphics Card and installed everything. This time, the PC actually didnt crash and the Graphics Card is displayed as : ASUS Radeon R9 380x Series ! Even after a restart the PC still showed the right Name of the Graphics Card in Device Manager.
So that the Card is being showed properly in Windows now, i thought i could try to flash the BIOS of the 380x with AtiWinflash.(Before the Driver installation the program said that it cant find any working ATI Card) I picked up a BIOS from TechPowerUp(Site is Down ATM so i cant post a link). I downloaded the one thats for the STRIX version of the Card. But apparently, i couldnt flash the BIOS. It shows me the Subsystem ID error(No idea what that means).
I also downloaded GPU-z to see if the Graphics Card is being shown there too. Indeed it was.
I saw a function to Save the BIOS of the Card to my Computer. So i did that. After that i tried to flash THIS BIOS ROM with AtiWinflash. And voila, it worked. But that didnt really fix my problem. PC still wont boot up if i pick the 380x as primary display adapter in BIOS.

What the actual **** is this? Im at the end of my alphabet...
Somebody can tell me what to do or what the actual problem is?

And someone can tell me how to fix : This Program wont run in DOS Mode problem?

I hope you can understand what i´ve written and i hope i find some help here....

Thanks in advice.

My PC Specs:
Motherboard: ASUS M5a78l-m/USB3
PSU: Sharkoon RushPower 500W
CPU: AMD FX 8320 @stock
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 1x8 GB
GPU: A(not working?) ASUS R9 380x STRIX 4GB

Does your motherboard have the latest BIOS? If not update it.

If it has, reset the BIOS.

Does the 380 have a dual BIOS switch - UEFI & legacy? If it has try legacy as I'm not sure if your motherboard supports UEFI BIOS.

I came from Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 1GB. But i had Windows10 back there. I did a clean install of Win7 so Win10 was deleted(and all the old drivers).

Little Update besides:
I found a little Tool in the guru3d Forums. Its called SAVE. With it i could flash the downloaded BIOS from https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/179186/asus-r9380x-4096-151105 correctly.
Link to the tool : http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=405666

But the BIOS Flash didnt help at all. Any Ideas ?? Im on this for 2 Days now..... hope you can help

Have you tried to disable your onboard GFX?

Also what cable are you using? HDMI or Display port?

Yes. At the moment, my 380x is plugged in in the PCIe Slot, but not connected with a Cable to the Monitor. I get a Picture from the AMD 760g Graphics and the 380x is being showed in Device Manager if i install the Driver. But still no positive change. PC still would not Post Beep (or Boot Up) if i pick as primary Graphics Adapter GFX0. The Fans of the Card spin all 2 Minutes 3 times for some seconds... but thats it. No picture. PC doesnt even boot in BIOS.
I connected the Card with HDMI. I also tried DVI-D but that didnt work too......

Any help for me?

EDIT: I cant disable my Onboard Graphics. I only can make it primary.

I did. But IT didnt work There 2. Some would say that the Card is broken and that I should get a new one. But if it gets recognized in windows device mgr, the card works,or not?
You have any solution?

If it didn't work in another system it's the card. It's probably physically damaged in some way that's affecting the entire system somehow.

The specs of your motherboard and the manual don't mention UEFI support. Some AMD cards are UEFI only. Nvidia seem to be a better choice for older motherboards.
