A while ago I built a PC for a friend, specs are as follows:

G3258
Gigabyte Z97-D3H
8 GB RAM
GTX 960
SanDisk SSD
WD HDD
EVGA 600w PSU

He called me on thursday to say that it won't start up, turns itself on and then shuts down again without a POST beep or anything on the monitor.

I've tried all the usual stuff, CMOS reset, removed GPU, swapped RAM slots, removed hard drives, nothing working.

The furthest I got was when I removed the GPU and hard drives and then put the RAM in a different slot. This POSTed and got to the BIOS but when I put the GPU back in it stopped working. So removed the GPU but still wouldn't boot. Had to swap the memory back to the original slots and back again to get back to the BIOS.

I'm pretty lost at this point. Anyone know what the issue could be? It seems to be more than one component that is not functioning.

Thanks.

sounds to me like a faulty motherboard if its booting ok when the gpu is out. could be a faulty gpu as well. does the pc boot into windows without the gpu in? are the drives recognised in the bios?

i would say its the mobo. reflash the bios and see if that works
