Hi guys,

I've got a Q6600 running on a Gigabyte P35 DS3R and I've been using 2x 2GB Kingston HyperX 1066.

I bought another 2x 2GB to have 8GB total but now the PC won't boot with all the sticks in. It gets as far as the Windows loading screen (W7 Professional 64bit) but just gets stuck there.

It will load fine on 3 sticks and I have tried it with each stick in on it's own and each one worked fine.

From what I can see the motherboard will support up to 8Gb so I can't work out what's wrong.

I'd appreciate any ideas on this.

Thanks,

Tom

Gigabyte themselves say that it supports 4 X 1.8v ddr2 dimms for a total of 8g.

Have you tried putting one of the 2 sticks in each of the 4 slots individually? mabey ther's a problem with the board that one of the dimm slots doesnt function properly?

I haven't tried a single stick in each slot, no.

I've tried a pair in 1+3 and then 2+4 and it worked fine both times.

I'll try your suggestion now though and see if that shows anything up.

Ah I doubt it will be that then if your have tried 1/3 and 2/4 and both work, I see on their website that there was a bios fix for vista lag with 8gb of ram, I know your running W7 but perhaps there's other issues with 8gb as well, do you have the latest bios?

Ok, I went onto Gigabyte to get their most recent BIOS but when I go to run it, it says it's not compatible with 64bit.

Balls.

Is there anything else I could try?
