PC Won't Boot with Keyboard Plugged In

Hi all,

Having a few problems with a pc and don't know where to start.

If I have a USB keyboard plugged in to ANY USB port before I switch the PC on, it fails to boot and gets stuck at the bios screens. If I unplug it, switch the PC on and then plug the keyboard in once Windows has loaded, the keyboard works fine.

Keyboard works fine with a netbook but haven't got another PC to try it with.

Any ideas?

Can't remember off the top of my head as it's a friends computer but it's a Q6600 based PC. Motherboard brand is ASUS but as I say, can't remember model.

Thanks for the suggestion. The problem is, I can't get into the bios because the keyboard wont function.

I forgot to mention that the keyboard worked perfectly fine until the PC was moved into another room of the house, then this problem started.

does it work if you boot windows then plug it in? (im thinking broken USB ports)

haev you also tried unplugging everything else USB and different ports?

Yes, it works if plugged in once windows has booted. I've tried it in all USB ports and with nothing else plugged in.
