Hi my pc won't boot past the bios screen when xmp is enabled but if I disable it boots fine, I can set voltage to the recommendation and its fine but if I set the frequency to the recommendation 3000mhz it won't boot

motherboard: Gigabyte Z270x Gaming K5 (bios F7)
RAM: Team Group Dark Pro 16GB (PC4-24000C15 3000MHz)

Is something faulty with either or just a bios issue

what ram do you have ? normally should just able XMP and off you go - whats your CPU/cashe overclocked to ?

Save your current BIOS settings to one of the profiles in the BIOS (that way you can easily load it back).

Then load optimized defaults.

Save+exit

Go back into the BIOS.

Load XMP, save+exit.

Does it work then?

I'm unable to swap them about because of my disability and my nephew is away for another week

no worries, normally you'd test one stick at a time. often finds if one stick or more is dead or faulty .

did you buy ram from OCUK ? if so, very easy RMA - first thing they'll try is on their rigs the same thing
if thats all fine then next step is RMA the board- normally through reseller but with gigabyte directly can arrange to send off the mobo/ram/cpu so all can be tested.
if it isnt ram or board then could be controller on CPU and can happen- think theres a post somewhere here this week of ryzen controller being dead =/

This stuff is hynix ic so should be fine on z270 I would try one stick at a time.

Set xmp then manually set 2666 then work your way up the ratios.
Set dram voltage 1.45v

My recommendation would always be c14 3200 dark pro 8Pack as this is a very high bin Samsung ic and simply works. We are selling 200+ kits per month of this stuff easy and even more on our black Friday promotions.

update I done as recommend and it failed but I have got to it working without xmp to 2800mhz with 1.35v, timing are higher but its working

can anyone tell me if I have Set the correct timings for my memory, I think I have
