my uncle came down with his pc for me to have a look at, saying it was reporting ntldr is missing...

i plugged it all in...and....it won't boot.

when i plug the power cable in the psu light glows, then when i press the power on button the light goes off, the fans spin round once then NOTHING

is that the sign of a dead psu?

Nope, nothing is dead :)

Has your uncle been messing around with his PC at all?

I just bought a new PC case...

I wired up the power button wrongly, when I switched on the power at the wall and pressed the power button, the lights went off, the fans spun round once then nothing happened.

I then rewired the power connector on the motherboard (put it the right way round on the pins on the m/board) and all works well.

Steve :)

yea i just pulled the cables from my other pc and plugged them into the motherboard this second, sure enough...it worked.

thanks for the reply

i presume it was it dying that gave the ntldr error, it prob wasnt powering the hard disk properly then fully popped its clogs when it got to my house

this might be a stupid question but the motherboard is micro-atx in size...but it doesnt appear to be a micro-atx psu.

Can you run micro-atx motherboards on atx psu's?
