PC wont boot :(

my computer has been fine for ages yet today its taking a stand... it will start loading windows and the loading bar will show and go for as long as usual but then when the screen goes black instead of the windows symbol appearing it just stays black... its on atm and its been black for about 20 mins so i dont think its gunna load...

using vista on system in sig, no changes that i know ofrecently yet it happens overnight

you changed any drivers or hardware recently?
Either way Id try booting into safe mode and uninstalling video drivers and reinstall fresh ones, if that doesnt work try a system restore

nope no changes, barely been on it recently as ive been building a system for a m8 and using lappy

If you leave your speakers on, do you hear the windows logon sound? if Yes then as 95thrifles said, boot into safe mode and check your display settings.

if you can get hold of your OS cd then do click repair my computer or an option similar to check that ur pc is running fine.

can a system in safe mode accept usb devices?

ooo... backlight seems to turn on and off when it goes black.... may just be tv tho....
