PC won't boot

Odd problem, but earlier my computer simply switched itself off whilst I was using it.

Now though it simply will not boot, however the motherboard clearly has power due to the lights on it working & also the case fans all turn on but only for a second before switching off again.

I've already tried resetting the cmos & testing different combinations of ram modules but with no luck. Guessing this is a problem with the psu but would welcome any advice ?

System spec:

Q6600
Nvidia 8800GTX
4X 1GB Ballistix Tracer DDR2 PC2-8500
Abit IP35 Pro Motherboard
SB audigy 2 ZS
PSU - Not sure until I take the computer apart

I do get an error code 8.3 on the motherboard, which from the manual says 'save all data in stack back to cmos'.

Though I've already tried resetting the cmos, and even with a dead battery the computer should still boot. Yes the fans do start after pressing the power button but only for a second & then shut down again.

After trying out an old psu, it turns out as that was the problem since it is now working. Though that psu isn't powerful enough to power everything so need to buy a new one

Thanks for the help though.
