Hi,

Just build a new PC and got some problems. I beleive the mobo has died.

When I built it the PC was working fine however the IDE for the DVD drive didnt work propperly. Sometime the drive would show up in BIOS and Windows and sometimes it wouldnt.

Tried different cable and same problem. I then tried the drive on another PC and it worked fine.

I then reset the BIOS using the Jumpers to see if it was a problem with the BIOS. The PC now wont boot. The PC powers up but I get no signal on the monitor, no bleeps on the mobo speaker and no power on PS2 port or USB ports.

The HDD light just constantly flashes even with the SATA HDD removed.

I rebuilt the PC with bare minimum to see if I could get it to boot, RAM, GFX Card, CPU. I removed the HDD, DVD and the problem still occurs.

Any ideas? Could it be a duff motherboard?

Cheers.

Well at first glance I'd say motherboard or PSU. I would rule out a motherboard problem first.

Then I would check for PSU problems. If it's from a poor retailer or old it could be weak and not supplying enough power to the system for it to boot.
