PC won't boot.

A friend has an XP desktop and it's suddenly failing to boot.
It appears to not be going past POST. It seems to get to the beep then crash and restart. I have tried Safe mode etc but this makes no difference.

Any ideas??

I just ran the recovery console from the XP CD and it sorted it. I have no idea what it actually did but it didn't take long.
