pc wont boot

hi
my sons pc wont boot , the fans start up and it looks promising but nothing else happens . im trying to narrow it down . it doesnt even post so it can only be the cpu or mobo i think . what do you guys think . i dont think it could be the battery could it .

right the heatsink is getting warm and there is a green light on the mobo ( 975x badaxe 2 ) , all the mobo heatsinks are getting warm but no post , i cant understand . im just about to order another mobo so any input would be apreciated .

Not yet. Pull out all ram but one stick, try again. Then try the other sticks, and in each slot.

Try a different monitor, and a different cable.

If possible, try a different PSU and a different graphics card.

Plug in a speaker and compare the beeps it makes when the board should be posting with the motherboard manual, as that'll be a hint as to what's wrong.

If none of the above helps, and especially if the speaker remains silent, it's probably new motherboard time :(
 
sussed it lads it was my psu , its a be-quiet dark power pro as well . i took my psu out jeantech storm ) and tried it and bingo i got windows . thanks for your help , im going to give him my psu and get a new one for myself .
