Down under mate!
My Daughter went to turn on her PC today and suddenly It won't boot past the bios screen as it hangs on 'Detecting 3rd master'

I've reset the cmos which has not cured the problem, so alarm bells are ringing that either the SSD boot drive is knackered or the 1tb mechanical drive is going the same way.

Anyone with any ideas or suggestions please.

Diconnect the mechanical drive first and try it.

I have had a similar problem and the pc booted. I replaced the HDD and it was fine afterwards.

Try booting wih just the ssd. See if it boots.
Its all about eliminating things. Remove all drives. Cards. Disk drives ect. See if you can boot to bios. Then add one at a time.

Sounds like SMART has detected an issue with the hdd. Do you have a copy of UBCD you can run and check hdd health status.

Well you're all spot on as usual.....disconnected the SSD and it didn't hang. So looks like a new SSD and reinstall of Win7 is required. :(

Unlucky, the ocz ssd's do seem to have a pretty high failure rate. Ive had a vertex 2e die on me, only to have the agility 3 that replaced it via rma go pop too.

Crucial or samsung 840 seem to have a good reputation. Stuck a 250gb sammy 840 pro into my system last week. Very impressed with it, samsung also offer cashback on their ssd's at present.

Though it's only available on drives of 250gb and above.
