Iv got a router that connects to the internet, this is used to connect 2 other PC's via cat 5 cable and a laptop by wireless, the current PC iv built for my mum however will not connect at all!

I'm using the motherboards LAN port, iv checked the cable, the LAN bit on the mother board lights up, the port on the router lights up to say theres connectivity. There is however no recognition of a connection in windows, on this computer for instance there is a internet connection and a Lan connection, highlighted in red.

However on the other computer these don't come up, there are 2 1394 connections but nothing else. Iv installed the LAN drivers for the mobo, everything else works fine, as do all the others in the house iv set up, am I missing something really obvious here?

The motherboard is an old K8N neo platinum 2 socket 754, I got the drivers from http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=574&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=

aswell as having TeamSpeak buddy's find other drivers for me, nothing seems to work.

Help please OcUK!

Could possibly be that the machine isn't assigning an ip address. Go onto 1 computer that connects fine and double click on Local Area Connection, then click on the support tab. You'll notice that it has an ip address, a subnet mask and gateway.

Do the same on the PC that's having internet problems and see if the ip address looks like the other computer's ip. They should both have the same gateway but not ip

There is no "Local Area Connection" on the other PC, the 2 highlighted things in red in the picture are not on the other PC.

Atm im trying to install an old wireless card, its just not my day, not having any luck with that either :(

Oh, sorry I missread that. Have a look in device manager, if it shows up in there with a yellow ? then possibly the wrong driver. If it isn't in device manager, go into the BIOS and make sure the NIC is enabled.
