As the title suggests, for about 50 minutes now i've been trying to get my computer to detect this bloody monitor and its just not having it.

Its all connected, powered up, Display port in and it just wont have any of it, cant find it atall.

Anyone know how to fix this? would appreciate it, its the 1920x1080 27 inch gsync one!

Not much help with your actual problem I know but the poster of this thread will detest Acer for you! :D

ps. no idea on your actual problem though - sorry!

Yes I can detest it for you.

What does it say on the screen ? Any warnings ?
Have you checked to see if there is a manual select on the monitor and set it to displayport ?
Have you tried connecting using DVI or vga ?
Have you tried connecting using the Intel dvi/vga on the motherboard ?
Have you tried a different DP cable and/or port on the MSI.

Still plenty for you to check.....

glad you got it working. Have seen others change the DP cable and it starts working okay.

Gotta be honest, not enjoying the colours right off the bat, comparing side by side all the tweaking i've done today theres so many details missing in this screen in colour, the raindrops and puddle effect on the tiles of hard reset is almost invisible.

but the smoothness is nice.

Personally I dont think a 1080p monitor is any good at 27". Especially if you sit about a metre or so from the screen.

Here's what I have settled on for now, bear in mind there will always be variations in kit and perception.

On the Nvidia control panel I have the following set up

Brightness 50%
Contrast 40%
Gamma 0.86

Digital Vibrance 52%

nothing else is changed from default on this.

On the monitor I have the following settings

Brightness 40
Contrast 50
Gamma 2.2
Colour Temp Normal
Overdrive Normal

Using these settings I get passable results on this test page

Looks great in game and on the desktop

but as I said ymmv.

Maybe deactivate your graphics card and let the internal apu work becuase sometimes it is the gpu and the drivers or something maybe if you revert to a older gpu update however it could a moitor failiur or a firmware problem did you update the firmware or overclock the monitor.Try all the ports and then if that doesnt work unplug and then reconnect into the port when pc on or maybe if you have two monitors your gpu/apu cant handle it. goodluck;)

Yea man i found a great colour setting and stuff for me, however my only gripe is the fact this monitor completely lacks a sharpness setting, which i feel really helps on a 27" screen at 1920x1080, on my BenQ the sharpness tool was a lifesaver to help make things pop like finer details on scenery, without it its really not as great. But i got this monitor for troublesome games so im not all bothered, i can just turn my head slightly and play on monitor two for other games with graphical fidelity i want to see.

Is the BenQ 1920x1080 and 27 inch as well?

Yep, both same resolution same 27" this one apparently has a higher contrast ratio aswell so i unno.

Well the reasons I won this acer are G-Sync, 144Mhz and until today I hadn't used the ulmb but now I have I think I prefer it to g-sync for smoothness, so got me thinking, maybe I don't need g-sync?

You are right about the lack of sharpness, I'd love to have a 2460*1140 144nhz display, with g-sync but the choices are so limited and expensive just now I'll just have to make do until this kind of tech becomes mainstream.

I cant deal with the lack of brightness when ulmb is active, but i love the gsync for tearing and smoothing fps, its an amazing feature.

I go back and forth between monitors now whatever im playing so its all good :)
