PC wont go onto desktop

For the past 2 months or so, my pc has had slighlty broken memory, in that sometimes applications would crash with memory errors etc.

Just today, my pc cant seem to get onto the desktop. It does the normal start up procedure, then when its about to do the blue windows screen (just before dekstop) it just shows a blank screen. Ive tried running the two sticks of RAM seperately and it still doesnt work, I can boot into safe mode however. What could be the cause?

Define blank screen? Black screen or blue screen? Does it hang there or reboot? Do you ever see the ctrl alt delete or welcome screen or is it configured to log straight into desktop?

sounds to me like a driver issue have you tried driver cleaner in safe mode?
then reinstalling motherboard drivers then graphics drivers?

i say that because you can boot into safe mode

by blank screen, i mean it has the windows logo with the scrolling bar to show its loading, then just is black, as in no display to the monitor

ill try reinstalling the drivers, perhaps the memory has corrupted them
