maybe somebody on here has had this problem before, or somebody has some ideas!
here we go...
Working PC, then it starts to do things on its own, it reboots its self, screen goes off, error no hdd attached , that sort of thing.
anyway, so i backed up the hard drive to another PC and formated the hard drive, and i have tried to install windows countless times now, it keeps saying "Insert Disk"![]()
so, i decided to take out the cd drive and hard drive (SATA) and replace them with MY hard drive and CD drive , same thing again. so i decided to try that windows CD on MY computer, and no problems, installed windows just fine.
so i replaced the motherboard and been trying it again all night, same thing "insert disk"
so if using a different CD drive and hard drive dont work, changing the motherboard also didnt help, what else could it be![]()
i need to give my brothers computer back!!!

I can understand copy failures and reboots, not to mention faulty installs occuring becuase of memory , but not an unrecognised drive ... I just cant see the logic in that. Oh well - even if it had turned out it was, it would be extrememly unlikely.
