PC wont install Windows!!!!

I think i have Waisted some cash in buying another motherboard

maybe somebody on here has had this problem before, or somebody has some ideas!

here we go...

Working PC, then it starts to do things on its own, it reboots its self, screen goes off, error no hdd attached , that sort of thing.

anyway, so i backed up the hard drive to another PC and formated the hard drive, and i have tried to install windows countless times now, it keeps saying "Insert Disk"

so, i decided to take out the cd drive and hard drive (SATA) and replace them with MY hard drive and CD drive , same thing again. so i decided to try that windows CD on MY computer, and no problems, installed windows just fine.

so i replaced the motherboard and been trying it again all night, same thing "insert disk"

so if using a different CD drive and hard drive dont work, changing the motherboard also didnt help, what else could it be

i need to give my brothers computer back!!!

if you have ruled out the sata drivers being an issue, then it points to ram to me, is your ram at the right voltage, e.g. your board may be running the ram as a default below its specification
need to know what board and what ram really

Looks like I finally fixed the dam thing! :)

it had 2 problems...

1) Faulty DVD ROM Drive
2) Conflict between IDE 1 and SATA 1

and im not sure if 2) was possible?

so now i got SATA 1 and IDE 2

anyone else do it using both SATA 1 and IDE 1 ?

cheers

Some motherboards seems to try mask the SATA drive as an IDE for compatibility so i assume it is possible yeah.

I dont see why so many people arrived at this being a memory issue !?!
I can understand copy failures and reboots, not to mention faulty installs occuring becuase of memory , but not an unrecognised drive ... I just cant see the logic in that. Oh well - even if it had turned out it was, it would be extrememly unlikely.

I don't think anybody really understood how it could be a memory problem but it was just that the OP'er had pretty much eliminated everything else and there was only really the memory left, don't forget that the PC was actually working using the same configeration hardware wise before and just all of a sudden started to play up, it's a shame you was'nt around as you seem'd to know what the problem was and could have helped the OP'er, we are not right all the time, all we can do is just offer advice to the best of our ability, there's allways someone around the next corner that knows more and when I bump into that someone I give him/her my respect and learn from them.

Ive installed Windows now and all is good, but one thing is troubeling me...

Ive installed all the drivers, and everytime windows start i get "new hardware found" and i dont know what it is...

anyway,

When i goto the device manager and look for the one that is not installed corectly ,and goto "properties" it says it is associated with the ATI X800 AGP card, but the drivers are installed and if i look under display adaptors it is listed..., very confused
