PC won't POST after overclocking CPU

Hey there, the following happened:

it was my first overclocking attempt, and after a couple of testruns, I settled on 4.3Ghz with 1.27v, 70c on load, it dipped down to 1.23v on occasion, got a BSOD after a while, all fine, figured I may have to cramp up the LLC a bit, so I hard reset from BSOD since it froze, try to start it up, and it immediately shuts down.. so I unplug everything, plug in, press the switch on multi socket and, blackout. PC shows no life signs after that. the PSU often made crackling noises touching the cable even before overclocking, and its 6years old, so I suspected it's that, I just hope it isn't the motherboard..

any idea what could be damaged, what caused it, and could the motherboard be damaged too? I don't have spare parts to test, any help would be helpful

my specs: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB

Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard, BIOS F7

blackout, as in tripped your mains circuit?
unfortunately, yes.. ouch, indeed. figured it's a powerful unit, naturally it would make such noises on occasion, I mean, it wasn't that obvious. clearly I was wrong, then? I'm still unsure what to do, so I haven't tested clearing the CMOS yet and booting it up with that PSU

if the power surge was bad enough to trip the mains, i suspect your PSU is kaput.
i wouldn't try to change the fuse in the plug or reuse that psu.
hopefully the PSU's overcurrent protection kicked in and worked...else you may be looking at a fried computer.

I see no bloated chips, black marks or any other visual damage on the first look, one can hope.. I'll get a new PSU then, and try the CMOS reset, cheers.

That medieval design cheap capacitor PSU was likely pretty much already dead.

For new PSU I would consider Bitfenix Formula as starting level.
For next step there would be Antec Earthwatts Gold Pros.
And Seasonic Focus Gold would be next level.

I see no bloated chips, black marks
Opening that PSU would likely show such things.
