My PC seems to have died on me tonight - it won't even reach post (it just hangs on the screen - no beeps or anything).

So where do I start in looking into sorting it out, on the basis I can't even get to the setup screen?

unplug everything except 1 stick of ram cpu and graphics card, remove the mobo from the case even.

remove the CMOS battery for 1 min and unplug PSU, press the power button a couple of times to clear power, insert battery and plug in.

hit the power button and pray, pray real hard for a beep........

As above . Ive found this will get you back up and running 75% of the time can happen when voltages change and memory timings change . I've noticed it happen on a lot of early dual core boards

so it wont post?
USB Devices - Unplug them
Reset your CMOS
Remove ram and try each stick in all slots.

my pc would refuse to boot last week i removed the PSU cable (kettle lead) adn went for something to eat, when i came back the pc booted (probably capacitors still held a little charge) ,

so advice is to go to very basics unplug everything reset bios, leave for a while then come back
