Hi,

Finally my new Bulldoxer FX-8150 arrived and I installed it into my PC (Specs in Sig) to replace my older 1055t. I installed the new chip but the system would not POST, fans spin up, hard drives and optical drive click and hum but nothing on monitor and no beep. Confused I reset the CMOS - Nothing then reseated the chip in the socket, this time using the stock cooler rather than my Corsair A50 (Not really sure the logic in the other cooler but hey!) Still the same issue. I finally stuck my old 1055t back and the system booted fine to a **OS Checksum Error (The BI or CM was cut off the screen so can't tell which it was) but after that the system runs Windows fine.

What could be the problem? Faulty Chip? I saw to update the BIOS but I planned on doing this afterwards, after all, what if you were building a new PC, the BIOS would be updated after the CPU so I can't see that being an issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Update the BIOS with your old chip installed and then try it.

If you haven't got a BIOS version which supports Bulldozer then it's unlikely to work.

Just noticed temps - Currently idling at around 15c but when playing Minecraft it reached 50c and the case became warm to the touch on the top - Is this okay as I'm used to my 1055t running nice and cool? The heatsink was hot though so not like it's the thermal paste

kk - Idling around 22c with coretemp but still getting up to 49c in Minecraft - Is this okay? I'm not used to my old 1055t getting this hot

Thanks - will try that

Just noticed one final odd thing - CPUZ reports the chip (FX-8150) as a FX-8130P?!?!?! And under specification it has "(ES)" at the end - Engineering Sample? - It was retail boxed
