My asrock extreme 9 x79 won't post or display anything, after I press the on button the fans spin and the debug LED displays "19".

It worked fine a few days ago (booted into BIOS).

Tried with a different (known working) PSU and a different GPU, tried with one stick of RAM, tried with no GPU at all, still the same error 19.

Tried clearing the CMOS (removed battery, used the jumpers). Still nothing.

I know the GPU's work, I know the PSU's work, I know the RAM works.

Specs are:
ASROCK Extreme 9 X79
Intel 3930K (second hand from MM)
Samsung Eco Green 4 x 4GB RAM
Dual HD7950's (also tested with HD5450)
Seasonic Platinum 860W (also tested with a BeQuiet! 630W)
Some fans
2 x Sandisk Extreme 120GB SSD's (tried with and without)

Any idea's guys, I'm rapidly loosing the plot. :(

EDIT: Just thought I should add that error 19 isn't really an error, the manual says: "0x19, Pre-memory south bridge initialization is started"

Boot it with no RAM (Should start beeping but that's fine)

Then assuming that's fine, power it down and use other stick of RAM - also try using a different RAM socket.

I would say if it still does it after that, it's RMA time.

I've tried with no RAM (sorry should have mentioned that in the OP), it then displays a different code, code 53, which just translates to "no usable memory detected" according to the manual.

Tried changing the memory around in different slots ETC... but still nothing, and I don't have one of those mobo speakers to plug in so I can't hear any beeps.

Don't know what to RMA though, Mobo or CPU (don't even know if I can RMA the CPU as it's second hand...)

Just tried with the RAM in the PC im using now and still nothing...

Dang. I've been known to be wrong!

Tried it in more than one slot?

Unplug everything except for the essentials to get it to post
So power, RAM, CPU.

If it still goes down the Kermit after that, it can only be the board or CPU.

Yeah tried it in more than one slot.

I've stripped it down to the bare minimum but still nothing, Looks like I'm gonna have to RMA the motherboad and hope that's faulty.

Thanks for trying to help me.

I just bought another Extreme 9, it'll arrive tomorrow.

If it works then my current mobo is faulty and I'll RMA, if it doesn't then I can only assume the CPU is faulty.

Anyway I'll update tomorrow. Time for beer.

The PC boots with the new motherboard, so perhaps the older (original board) has an older BIOS that is flaky or just not compatible with my components or it's just faulty.... who knows. Gonna be a tricky one to RMA :/

Anyway I'm just happy that I can continue on with the build.
