Hey guys,

Came home yesterday, tried to turn my PC on, didn't power on.

Checked all power cables were still connected, all seems fine, swapped power cable, still nothing.

Only way I could get the PC to power on was to remove the main motherboard power cable, plug it back in and then press the power button.

The PC then started powering up, all fans spin up, lights come on, then after about 5-10 seconds it turns off, no post or beep, motherboard lights stay on.

Press the power button again, nothing.

Only way to try and power on again is to remove the main motherboard power, plug back in, and then try again.

Each time I've tried this, same results.

I have stripped the motherboard down to just the essentials, tried all ram modules just on their own, even unplugged the power button from the computer and tried to boot up with the power on button directly on the MB, same result.

I have also tried a different PSU, same result.

I have checked the motherboard for any bulging or burnt out capacitors or components, can't see any obvious damage.

I have even re-seated the CPU, again no obvious damage and no change in the outcome.

Any ideas on where the problem may be?

I'm thinking maybe the motherboard is dead? (I've only had it about 10 months) but I'm at a loss!

My next step would be probably to purchase a new motherboard, but are there any other suggestions you guys have before I try that?

Many thanks

did you do a cmos clear? motherboard battery out for 30 minutes

beware as it will reset any bios/oc settings

also list your pc components

I have taken the cmos battery out for about 10 minutes and put it back, no difference.

Components:

Asus P8Z77 WS Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W)

GTX 680 SLI

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9)

you tried with onboard graphics? no gpu's/hdd's attached and one stick of ram?

try a longer cmos clear,over 30 minutes

if its still playing up id think about motherboard rma, seeing as you've tried two psu's on it

I've tried without any additional cards connected, single stick of ram, no hdd's, still the same issue :(

I will try and remove the battery for 30 minutes and see if that helps, will have to wait till I get home.

It's really strange that I didn't use the PC all day, was fine the previous evening, but suddenly it just won't turn on.
