Hi,

Last night when I powered down my PC (either sleep or shutdown) it would turn off and then immediately back on and boot up... I didn't want to troubleshoot at the time so turned it off at the mains.

This morning it won't power on - the caps and scroll are flashing on the keyboard.

Mobo is a Gigabyte Z68-UD3-B3

Google turns up various things for Dell and HP, but nothing for Gigabyte.

Any ideas?

Might be time to upgrade/replace the motherboard, CPU, RAM :(

EDIT: have reseated the RAM. A real pig because of the huge Noctua cooler! No joy :(

Thanks
Matt

Is there anything shorting the power/reset motherboard pin headers?

Nothing shorting these pins

I left the battery out for 10 mins, reconnected the power and got a "click click" from the PSU relays and an attempt to turn the PSU fan.... OK so I thought the PSU was knackered... Shorted out the ATX connector pins to fire up the PSU and all my case fans / drives etc spin up - so I think the PSU is OK.

Just to close the loop on this - might help someone else out!!

This turned out to be a damaged case front panel USB header. One of the pins was shorting to the ground. After fixing the short, all powered up like a dream :D
