Hey was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I'm having with my computer. I bought an iQon computer from Tesco last year which came with only 512 ram (-128 for the integrated graphics). When i came to upgrade it I purchased 2 sticks of 512 cosair value select DDR II 5300 667mhz memory from ebay. Having installed both sticks the PC simply failed to start up. However it works fine with only 1 stick installed. I ran memtest 86 on both sticks and found no errors so i assume the memory is fine. 5 calls to iQon's tech support resulted in been told it needs to be the right speed and if its the right speed it will start up, however it is the right speed and it isn't, he simply told me to take it to pc world to get someone qualified to do it. When i asked if it could be a timing issue it simply confused him and he started banging on about the speed again. So I was just wondering if anyone here has any ideas.

Theres the memory...

Are you giving it enough vdimm?

Unfortunately there seems to be no option in the bios to increase the voltage supplied to the memory. Dam supermarket pc's lol. Any ideas other than taking it to the wonderful pcworld who "will" be able to fix it ?

lol, qualified... lol

How many ram slots are there? have you tried the mem in different slots if (assuming there should be) 3 - 4 dimms.

LOL...so, showing up for work = qualified eh? :p

At at a glance, I see no reason why those 2 DIMMs won't work with that MOBO. It should support 2 1.8v DIMMs up to 1gb per slot according to the spex. Is there a bios update for it? Also, is there a clear CMOS jumper to rest the bios?

Unfortunately there are only 2 ram slots available and there seems to be bios updates for every mobo going besides my model (probs with it being an OEM model). Would altering the timings in the bios allow the pc to start up? At the moment when i try with both sticks theres simply no output to the monitor, no beep from the pc's internal speakers but the fans and harddrive start up. If it is a timing issue would anyone be able to recommend the best values?

You should be OK with the timings set to AUTO. However, if you can set them manually, set them to the rated specifications. You may want to contact MSI or go to their forum and see if they have any info for you. This is the first time I have seen this board and have no specific experience with it.
