Switched my PC on today and it blew the ring main fuse and there's no power. It's just dead. Pretty sure it's the power supply but does anyone have any ideas of what could have happened?

E8400 3.0GHz Dual Core
8800 GTS 512MB
Corsair TX650W Power Supply
2GB GeiL RAM
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L

I'm writing this on my 2nd PC btw :p

Any help much appreciated.

well if it doesnt turn on anymore i think your pretty safe assuming thats the problem. ;) you could always try the PSU from your 2nd computer? not too sure why it would've blown the main fuse, take it you dont have a surge protector. ;)

Firstly, disconnect everything (Including mobo connectors)on your PSU except the fans.

Switchy off PSU and unplug from mains.

Grab a piece of wire and insert one end into the green socket of your 20/24pin ATX connector.

Connect the other end to any black connector on the ATC connector.

Switch on and test.

Do the fans spin?

If they do , it's likely to be a fault with the mobo. Otherwise you have a dud PSU.

To be sure, check the PSU using a multimeter..
