About 6months ago, I disconnected the power lead from pc, but when I connected it up again pc was dead, but a few hours later I turn on the pc and it powered up fine.. The power has been disconnected twice more since then and the same thing keeps happening. The last time was a few days ago and the pc wouldn't power up for 2 days, so its getting worse whatever it is..

I thinking its my corsair psu as it must be 7-8yrs old now. But its odd as it only happens after power loss, and my volts look ok to me.........

Is the PC plugged into an extension cable / surge protector or directly into the wall socket? If you're using an extension try the wall socket if you can. Also try a different power lead.

Some of the older Corsair units didn't last too well, had a few die on me too. My gut feeling says it's the power supply slowly giving up :(

I have had my motherboard 4yrs now, I dont think the battery needs replacing as the bios settings doesn't reset to defaults after powerloss. I have also tried different power cables and in different sockets but it still remains as dead as a dodo, untill it wants to come on. But I have notice that I hear pulses coming through the speakers when it plays dead, so the psu is sending something through the motherboard?

I have just bought a corsair 750watt psu, so before I change it I will cut the power and see if it turns on, but I dare not to try it again yet, as Im not sure when I will find time to change the psu... Just hope it doesn't go pop between now and then tho, but I have had the pc on continuously for over 24hrs now without any problems. Odd hey?

A power controller decides when power can and does not come on. Only way to see what the controller is doing and why is to use something that is simpler than a hammer. Minutes of labor with a meter and some requested instructions means the next reply can say what is or is not defective. And often why.

Two choices exist. Just keep replacing good parts until something works. Or see the defect before even replacing one part. Those are your only two options.

Well yesterday we had a powercut and would the pc turn on after, would it buggery. So I have put in the new 750watt psu and it seems to have done the job. I've turned off the mains a few times and it has turned back on every time.
