ok i have a problem wher emy pc wont power up. however all leds on my pci cards and usb leads are lit, so there is power to the pc.

have checked connections from the push button to the board, and they are still plugged in

any suggestions ?

where to start....as you've got some lights its less likely to be the psu but could be.

first thing to do would be to check the power button, try shorting the pins out on the mobo with a small screw driver. If its not that then its either mobo or psu

ok i jsut tried shorting the 2 pins out, and nothing happened

i did do this however..

slowly unplug the main connecter that powers the mb, the plug it back in again slowy, and for a split second all my fans etc and pc suddenly begins to lite up and power up, but only for a split second..

so still no luck in finding the problem ?

I had this recently with my new Ultra-D. If I constantly flicked the power switch on the back of the psu whilst pressing and depressing the power switch then it would jump into life.

Replaced my PSU and now it powers on normally every time.

Is this a new setup btw? Some system specs could help.

its new yes, about 5 months a8n-sli premium board

I just been into my garage and found a spare psu, connected it up, and it now powers up my motherboard.

it fires up my hard drives, and cpu fan, etc but i get 3 quick beeps on startup, and no graphics are working. my tfts are still on standby so not switching on.

thank you for that, jsut as you posted that, i googled it and found that it meant video error,

i just unpluged my graphics card, then pluged it back in, and tried it again and its working...

currently booting into windows now ...

well, problem fixed it seems

The psu i am using atm is one i found in the garage, it may only be about 250w, and my previous onewas 400w. so i really need to invest in a new one i think. or should i jsut use this untial it fails?

Thank you so much guys, this forum isa great place. !!

cheers every1 who posted on here

I would recommend replacing it asap, i dont trust generic ones, coz when they go they usually take something with it from your system! Thats my opinion though.
