Building my new PC Using the Zalman Z9 Plus case.

I've connected the connectors from the case onto the motherboard correctly however when I press the Power button on my PC, nothing happens.

If I take the connectors off the mobo header and boot with a 2p piece, the system turns on fine.

Can anyone help me please as I'm really frustrated.

Cheers

Silly one but have you tried putting the connector the other way round?

Could be the switch not working correctly too. if you have a volt meter you can check the switch actually works.

I've tried it every way and I don't have a molt meter or anything I can test it with.

Just don't know what's going on.

If you have a continuity tester you can check that the switch is working but tbh it should be a closed loop key, my guess would be the switch is gone. Try the reset button on the power on header, again its a closed loop operation so should turn your system on.

You can use the reset button as Gav has said, if that doesn't work then that would be weird, as both switches going at the same time would be extremely unlikely (unless you have done something physical to the case)

I think you have to connect the wires to the power switch on that case, as they don`t come connected. I`m not 100%, but check any way and look in the case installation manual/guide.

Ok guys, I put the reset switch on the power switch header and pressing the reset switch turns the PC on.

What does this mean? The power button on the case is faulty?

+1 It's literally on the first page of the manual it says to connect the power button. The front panel has to be removed to do so but you will take it off to fit the optical drives etc anyway

Are you serious... I'm an idiot. Wow. It's working fine now thanks a lot mate you're a legend.

I really should read those damn manuals.

I feel like a total fool!

This is the first PC I've built in ages and it certainly didn't come easily.

I plugged the PCI-e cable into the mobo 8 pin power cable, not realising there was a 2 extra slots that weren't covered so this had me baffled for ages. I also put the 8pin mobo cable into the graphics card power lol.

Also as I was screwing the graphics card in, I slipped with the screw driver slightly and panicked thinking I chipped a part of the card but luckily it was just some dried glue. :D

It's all up and running now... Can anyone suggest what I need to do to 'test' it? Any apps to use?

Lol! I build my system with the exact same case this week. It was pure luck that I saw the power cable connection while I was putting the front panel back on too lol.

I'm glad I spotted it before I tried booting it as this was my first building a system and I would have started to panic if nothing had happened when I turned it on lol.

Reading manuals is for women, coming to forums for a bit of help means you don't loose your man card...
you just loose some dignity

Have you made sure that the connector is on the motherboard the correct way?

LEDs need to be connected with the correct +ve and -ve polarity.

+1 again lol

Also I'd take the fan off the side panel and either put it in the ceiling or probably better the floor of the case to help cool the GPU. Makes life easier when you have to take the panel off and the fan can vibrate a bit on that side panel.

Did you remember to hook up the fan controller and digital temp display molex connectors to the PSU too?
