Hi folks,

I have just built a media centre pc that I want to leave on 24/7 so when its not in use I want it to go into a power saving mode. I have set in windows for it to go to sleep after 10 mins. The display turns off but when I go to wake the tv nothing happens. I can press the power button, click the mouse or press any of the keys on the keyboard but nothing happens. The same thing happens when I put the computer to sleep through the start menu.

I have set in windows that both the mouse and keyboard can wake the computer from sleep.

I'm the bios I have set the sleep mode to s3 energy saving, ihave set both the mouse and keyboard to wake it up etc but it still doesnt work!

I am using windows vista 64, the computer specs are;
amd 4200+ @ 2.5
gigabyte s-series motherboard with on board hdmi
2 gb ram
500w jeantech psu

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get this right? I have managed to get everything else set up but its just this that I can't seem to fix!

Thanks

Matt

are your mouse and keyboard usb? I know to turn my PC on with a keyboard it has to be PS2, so this could be the problem, I'm not too sure about sleep mode though?

Have you checked it wasn't concussed before it went to sleep? - I'll get my coat...

I have had a similar issue with Vista 32 on a HTPC and I still haven't found a solution. I would be interested to see if anyone has any ideas.

I've seen display drivers cause that problem quite a few times, might be worth removing and re-installing or checking for an updated driver
