PC - Xbox360 Media Sharing using WMP 11

I found help on another forum and its fixed my problem, not sure if it will help you too?

"Ok I had to start 3 services, two of which I had disabled. Go to run and put in "services.msc". Make sure "SSDP Discovery Service" is started, " Universal Plug and Play Device Host" is started and " Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" is started. UPnP host seems to be dependent on the SSDP and the Shariing service dependent on UPnP host."

For me Univeral Plug and Play Device Host was set to disabled - starting it no longer hangs WMP and my xbox and laptop have both been found.

you, my friend, are a star. Installed this and xbox found my comp straightaway. Many thanks

Indeed he is :), one question though with some of my AVI's TVersity is only recognising them as 2 seconds long, where in fact it's more like 45 mins long. And the 360 won't load these?

Good to hear you got it working. I haven't tried AVI's yet with TVersity but will give it a try later on today. Is it the same with all your avi's? Certain encoded ones?

I set up this media sharing thing, even though it's completely pointless for me. I have my music streaming from my PC, over my wireless network, to the Xbox 360 that is sitting on top of my PC. And the sound from the Xbox is plugged back into the PC so it comes out of the PC speakers :D

Utterly pointless since I could just play the music from the PC and it would still come out the same set of speakers.
