Well you don't seem to stock any of this type of memory at all on this site but I was wondering if you could tell me if you think the OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR 400MHz/PC3200 Memory Platinum XTC Edition CL2 Unbuffered is worth the money as last upgrade on my ageing P4 system. Thinking of getting 4GB and donating my current RAM (1GB Kingston) to my housemate.

Heavy use of the computer is producing music. Light use is web and playing media both through monitor and TV output.

Will also likely be upgrading my graphics to Sapphire Radeon HD3850.

I wouldnt bother upgrading a system that old, can get a cheap core 2 system for pence now that would smash a P4

Thats just me though

Which I will be doing in a few (6 or more, well actually a decent quad-core for getting properly back into music production, although I may go laptop) at which point this will become a media server based in the living room for general use by everybody.

For that reason I want to bring it to a point it can play full HD video and would like it a bit faster to continue with my music in the meantime.

Yeah I knew I wouldn't get a full 4GB as 512MB would be taken by the graphics card.

Decided with the prices being so high (and going up not down) to just go for 2GB (still double what I have at the moment and better quality) and get the 3650 rather than 3850 graphics card, saving myself a few dollar as new hardware is so much cheaper than old it seemed it would be spending a little too much on what is pretty much obsolete equipment. Hopefully this will just about be able to bring it to a point I can play 1080P but even if not will helpfully improve things slightly.

I'm guessing it's best to take out my current RAM, yeah? "Item: Kingston 1gb 400MHz DDR Non-ECC CL3 (3-3-3) DIMM (Kit 2)" Thought I had put 2GB in it originally but speced it so long ago that it wouldn't surprise me if it was actually only 1GB (and that was £140 then.) I'm thinking mixing CL2 with CL3 will probably slow things more than the gain of the extra GB yeah? Plus it would be 2x1GB + 2x512MB sticks in dual channel slots on my Asus P4E800E-D.

(Why is it so hard to structure decent sentences this time in the morning? Hope that makes sense.)
