Hey,
It might be a stupid question but is it ? im going to steal a stick of 512 out my P4 rig so i can rebuild my opteron 144. The opty is pretty slow stock and i want to fold with it will use a Asus A8N5X nForce4 mobo.... how much think i will get out of it before the mem limits me ?

I has some PC2700 sticks that ran at PC3200 perfectly well - memtest86 no errors 24 hrs. The machine ran fine. Can't remember what brand they were now

ditto. i had a 512mb stick 333mhz that ran 400mhz fine (crucial ithink). ithink sometiems manufavtures put same thing ina diffrent box and sell it as cheaper as a lower spec part
I.E a 2500+ is identical to a 3200+ in the old athlon xp days

Not PC2700 , but PC2100 ive had a stick that ran at 220MHz not stable and 202MHz 100% stable.
