I have a 2x512 PC4000 Ballistix kit that has started to give me errors, confirmed by Memtest.

I will be RMA'img these and pushing for a refund as this is the third set that has gone wrong on me.

It is currently running at 241 mhz (166 divider). I am going to upgrade to a 2gig kit and was looking at the OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series or the G.Skill 2GB DDR HZ PC4000 (2x1GB) CAS3 Dual Channel Kit
Both about the same price. But will my Opty 146 (290x10) still be able to run on the PC3200 just as quick as what it is on the Ballistix PC4000?

TIA

ahhh well.....too late I have already ordered the OCZ plat PC3200 kit.

If I set the divider to 133 or 150 I can still have quite tight timings, can't I?

Anyway, anything is better than Ballistix! They aren't going to refund me, just replace.

Straight onto ebay me thinks! ;)

Yeah you're best shot of the Ballistix, and the OCZ will run great at tight timings on a divider, you won't notice the difference :)

Ok, got my new kit and it is running at 5-2-3-2 @ 193.3 mhz, 133 divider, 1T

Can this be better?

I received my replacement RAM from Crucial as they refused to do any refund, even though this is now my fourth set in 15 months. I sent them a firm but polite email explaining my dis-satisfaction with this product and they still refuse to make any refund.

Is it worthwhile taking this further?
