Guys, ive got 2X1GB sticks of Samsung PC3200RAM DDR stuff for my AMD mobo.

I checked the bios the other day and it was running at 2T and 333Mhz. I changed the box from Automanage to Manual and adjusted the speed to 400mhz and all is running fine.

Erm, should it be running quicker than this? do i need to change anyhting in XP in order for it to accept the change in speed or is the change in the bios the only change i need to make?

cheers all - happy thursday.

Some A64 boards dont like 2x doublesided dimms, so they change them down to 333mhz T2 when set to Auto (like you have seen) And yes, most do actually work fine when you change them manually to their proper speeds.

So you've set them to manual and everything is good. So dont worry, there's nothing else you need to do.

ah cool - thanks for the reply mate - i benchmarked it in 3dmark 05 last night and got 10.5k - an increase of 500points just from upping the ram speed.

Suffice to say that im happy.
