Hi All,

My trusted PC38X Headphones are playing up, the right earpiece has gone kaput. They are very old and been used constantly for gaming and work. They don’t owe me anything.

Before I buy another pair are there any other brands I should consider?

I have a Drop THX 789 Headphone Amp and DAC to plug any wired Headphones into.

I am open to an attachment mic like a mod mic.

Primary use is single player games so immersion, voice chat discord coop Diablo 4, then music (Spotify).

I have considered the Audeze Maxwell also but keep reading people posting driver issues and bad build quality.

Budget would ideally be around £300 but would go to £500 for something special.

Thanks Neil.

Obviously a few options

I'm a huge fan of the PC38X best tuning of any gaming headset that I've heard. Currently using this for gaming.

I think the Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro that has just come out is probably worth looking into. Open-back headset again with solid mic at £259 - not got this one to give any personal experience. Technically better drivers with more detail.

If you are going the headphone and modmic route that's going to open up a number of options.

Would agree with this - if your going headphone plus ModMic then the list is endless.

If you want an all in one solution then the MMX330Pro I have would get my vote (and I've owned the PC38x in the past). The MMX win in comfort and audio quality for me (and I prefer the mic on them also). If you want to use them with console though, you'd need to budget for the console cable from the previous MMX model as the cable provided with the 330 Pro is far too long imho :)
