I'm soon going to be upgrading to a core 2 duo setup. I was just trying ot decide which RAM to get. I plan to get 2Gb.

Is it worth spending a few extra quid on getting PC6400 instead of PC5400?

I've never overclocked before so that isnt an issue.

but won't there be a limit in there set by the read speed of the hard drive(s)? or is there significant data transfer between the ram and something else too?

i think that's probably the same thing i've been looking at hangtime.

I've no intention to overclock anything for a while at least. I have no need to really. So I should think PC5400 would be best for me then?

Also, I'm thinking of getting the e6550 with 1333MHz FSB. WHat is the actual FSB speed? I assume that 1333MHz is the "effective" bus speed, as Huddy's guide puts it. Is it still "quad pumped" so is the actual FSB 333MHz? Therefore it should be matched with PC5400 anyway?
