ok ned to get some ram for new motherboard combo so far i have
aw9d-max
e6700 conroe

now im not that into over clocking however i know tyhe conroes do it well so may give it ago one day. soo what would be the best speed ram to get ??

pc6400 cheaper :)
pc8500 faster :)

is it only worth getting the pc8500 if im over clocking ?
could i overclock with the pc6400 ?

Depends on what you use your PC for - the difference in performance for gaming between PC2-6400 and PC2-8000 is very little, with other applications you may or may not see a difference - for the majority of desktop use also you'd see little difference.

I recently bought a set of G.Skill 6400 HZ and its easily clocking to PC2-8000+ speeds without any problem and with extra cooling and voltage can probably do far more.

To give you an example - the difference in scores in 3D Marks 03 between running the RAM at 667 and 1000 is about 300 points (total score is around 35,000)

will mostly be some gaming :) i dont really do much on ma pc heavy load wise apart from games and odd little bit of photo work.

and i know i wont do any extreme overclocking.

soo pc6400 would seem an ideal purchase ?? and pc8500 uneeded expense ?
