So, is PC6400 generally a rip-off? It's usually 50% more expensive but can people often hit the required FSBs with PC5400 memory for, say, an E6600?
I'm trying to advise someone that wants to push an E6600 to 3GHz as to whether it's worth shelling out the extra for PC6400, i.e. whether or not the memory will limit the FSB before the chip bottoms out?
What PC5400 memory can reach 400MHz quite easily at 4-4-4-12? This would give (x9) 3600MHz on an E6600.
