PC8500 DDR3 too slow for i5/i7?

As title really, would PC3-8500 DDR3 1066Mhz ram be too slow for an i7 920 ( 1366 ) or i5 950 ( 1156 )?

How much would it affect overclocking?

Very hard to tell really , but in most cases Ram is the significant factor restricting an overclock or causing instability due to an overclock.

It should run but do not expect 4ghz in my view.

Thats what i thought, obviously i dont fully understand the how the memory comes into play when overclocking

However id be perfectly happy with 3.4 - 3.6Ghz really

With the CPU and mobo costing upwards of £250 i was hoping to save a bity on the RAM just to get the system up and running. I can get some better stuff then once i sell my S775 stuff and/or the laptop
