Is there anyone else who quite sadly considers color as a selling point?

I'm very strongly considering the EVGA 680i over a P35 Gigabyte board just because I think the gigabyte boards look garish to the point that it disturbs me. With the black 680i, I can match it with a black PCB sound and video card.

Please don't tell me I'm the only one who thinks this way...

Side-panel goes on.
Next time I see the components in my PC is either when something goes badly wrong (cannot remember the last time I had any component failures) or it's upgrade time 6-12 months later.
Colour of any PCB matters not to me.

Yup, pcb colour matters to me, as does the rest of the colours on the mobo hence why I would never have a gigabyte board until they sack the 3 yr olds who design them.

I'd say it sways me too. One of the reasons I picked my M2N-SLI Deluxe is because of the beautiful black PCB. Ooh, sexy.

It depends if you have (or are intending to get) a window in your case.

Obviously you would want the goods inside to look good rather than the potential sicky colour that cheap boards have.

That also means that by having a black pcb it kinda shows off that you've got decent or expensive hardware and allows you to wave your e-pen0r about when you post pics on the net.

I shamelessly do this since the p5ne-sli has a black pcb

Yup, one reason why I won't buy gigabyte boards, I was scared for life when I bought a top end gigabyte board for my P4 years back with its very strange use of color.

I've just bought a Gigabyte board, and must admit it's bloody horrible to look at. Couldn't care less though, it's under the desk with a sheet of metal covering the inards :)

What's wrong with gigabyte? blue = sexy, don't mind yellow PCB (ASUS) as well, hell i don't even mind if it's green.

I don't think it's so much the PCB, as the silly combination of the PCB and slots/connector colours.

I think it's the blue combined with neon trim that ruins it for me.

How hard is it to make motherboards that look nice? I really don't know why they designed the Gigabyte boards to look so horrible. There's no way they did it unintentionally.

Edit: beaten to it.

I've got a gigabyte mobo and my case has a side window but once everything is installed you can't really see the diff coloured connectors. I think the idea behind them is similar to the colour coded connectors on the backplate. How much easier does it make it to say dual RAM config = same colour RAM slots then slot0 and slot2?

I used to love my old MSI K2N Ultra Socket A board, lovely red colour.

My DFI board was red as well, have a bit of a soft spot for red.

May have to go for a black mobo for the next upgrade, not for a while though.

No issues with my Gigabyte board in my windowed Eclipse here.

Garish decoration is a little less important than stability in my case.

yep colour is a big factor for me i have a mountain mods case ( perspex ) so i like everything to look good as well . thats why i bought the dfi nf 680i board looks gorgeous ( god i need help ) :)

I Miss Hercules and their loverly blue PCB's.

3d Phrophet 4500, Fortissimo 2 (still use that!)... ahhh old days

now, dont really care that much. ATI card and Abit mobo are both red. but thats chance
