Hey there,

Iv just been doing some cable tyding in my case, and since i got my 7950, as my PSU though its 700W it only has 1 Pci-E 8 pin, and 1 6 pin, so i had been using two molex to 8pins to power my cards 2nd 8pin plug (which looked HORRIBLE!), but iv found a 6pin to 8pin addaptor in the cupboard, iv plugged it in, seems to be running fine at the moment, havent tried any games yet though.

just want to know is it saft to use a 6pin to 8pin addaptor? because surely a 8 pin needs more power than a 6pin power line can deliver or something? but if it wasnt safe they wouldn't sell them?

Thanks :)

It's totally depend on the quality of the PSU, as not all PSUs are made the same.

A 6pin to 8pin adapter itself is fine, so long as your PSU is a quality brand and made and got enough and clean, stable power delivered over the 12v rail.

If you have good amperage on the 12volt rail then im sure it would be fine for normal use, normally the extra two pins delivery extra 75 watts to the card to help with overclocking and stability, not a fan of adapters but needs are must in this case
