pci and laptop

Hi guys. I don't know if this is an appropriate question, but is there a component available which can house a pci card and connect it to a laptop (so that I wouldn't have to cart around my desktop computer)?

I can't recall ever hearing of such a thing but then it would be a very niche market. What does the PCI card do? It might be easier to find one that connects via PCMCIA or USB or something.

I had a similiar idea for a PCMCIA card that would house a PCI card. Seen ones that go the other way. Turns out I dont have the time/knowledge/motivation to invent something.

If there was one I'd buy it!

from memory i believe they dont work too well tho
