Right, I bought a wireless PCI card to make my desktop PC wireless. I plugged it in fine, and followed the included instructions to set it up and install the drivers. But it won't properly detect the card. In the device manager, there is an 'Unknown PCI device' there, but even when saying 'I have my own drivers' it won't recognise it.

I've tried different PCI ports but its the same, but its not a generral PCI problem as my soundblaster Xfi card is working.
The only thing I can think of is that its a duff card, but does anyone have any other options?
Also, I've tried it in both Vista and XP (Have both on seperate hard drives). Neither can find it.

Specs:
E6600 OC'ed 2.7Ghz
Asus P5B
2x1Gb geil ram
512Mb X1950XT

Does sound a bit duff to me, have you got a friend who'll let you try it in their pc?

The only other things I can suggest are to make sure its seated in the slot probably (always a pain with my Belkin card). Also check on the instructions if you're meant to install the software before putting the card in. I have a vague memory of doing that for mine.

Sorry if i'm stating the obvious too much!

PK!

Yeah, I installed the drivers first as the instructions said. I'll try it in my brothers PC, though he has a belkin USB wireless adapter. Should I remove that or uninstall the drivers for it, or just plug it in?

Right, strangely it works in my brothers PC, but not mine. I'm going to try putting it back in mine, but otherwise I'm not sure what I'll do. My brothers PC does have a belkin USB network thing, so I may give him the PCI one and use the USB, but would a USB one affect downloading/game performance?

I've never used one so I'm not really the expert, but I would have thought that USB transfer speeds are going to be faster than any network transfer speed you'll get, so it should be fine.

PK!

Ok, I'm going to try that, since there is still no luck with the PCI card in my pc.

Thanks for all the help.
