PCi-e 1.0 and 2.0

Hi, ive been having some problems with my new 8800GT its making my screen not come on 1 out of 3 times i turn my pc on.
I know my mobo has a 1.0 PCI-E slot but my GPU requires a 2.0. Is the 1.0 PCI-E slot the cause of my problems?

I have an ATI sapphire X1550 and i tried that and it worked 10 out of 10 times at turning my screen on. that only requires a 1.0 PCI_E slot.
Any thoughts?

8800GT will run perfectly fine in a PCI-e 1.0/1.1 slot thats unlikely to be your problem.

hmmm wonder what could be doing it then:s could it just be a faulty 8800GT?

hmm yerr it should be, its thermaltake 550W

yerr, lol its all plugged in. i opened the case, took the GPU out cleaned around it, then i put it bk in and checked all the fittings. and it worked after that. but this is the second time when ive taken it out and done all this.
