Wasn't that article before about 1.0/1.1 slots only relevant to crossfire/SLi users, as wasn't it only the secondary slot that could either be 1.1 or 1.0, and the primary slots were all 1.1's.

There was thread on it in here somewhere.
but EVEREST Ultimate Edition 2007 saying they are 1.0.... i also read on amd site somewhere that the 580 north bridge is 1.0 i think...

PCI Express Controller
PCI-E 1.0 x16 port #0 In Use @ x16 (ATI Radeon HD 2600 - High Definition Audio Controller, ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB GDDR4 Video Adapter)
PCI-E 1.0 x16 port #0 In Use @ x16 (ATI Radeon HD 2600 - High Definition Audio Controller, ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB GDDR4 Video Adapter)
PCI-E 1.0 x1 port #2 In Use @ x1 (JMicron JMB360 SATA-II AHCI Controller)
PCI-E 1.0 x1 port #3 In Use @ x1 (TerraTec Cinergy 2400i DT Bridge)

I'm lost as to what the supposed issue is.

Found this on PCI-SIG website

The PCI Express® 1.1 updates include the Base, the Card Electromechanical and the Mini Card Electromechanical specifications. These three specifications have been updated with clarifications and several improvements that reflect the industry’s combined design experience of the past two years. These updated specifications are fully compatible with the PCI Express 1.0a specifications. The PCI-SIG is planning to release complementary PCI Express 1.1 compliance material towards the end of 2005.

PCI-E 2.0 is also backwards compatible, the only differend is that the signal rate doubles.

Regards

AD
so a 2.0 card will work on a pcie 1.0a slot then?
