PCI-e 1x. Max bandwidth?

I'm going to be ordering a new RAID controller as soon as OCUK get them back in stock.

Was just woundering what the transfer speed on an PCI-e 1x port is, because the RAID controller would be using it.

Done a quick search and found this on Wiki

Is it right that a PCIe 1x port can do upto 8 GB/s ?
