PCI-E 2.0 boards

I am just starting to look into putting a new pc together and want to futureproof it a bit where possible. To that end are there any motherboards out that support PCI-E 2.0? As I am looking to get an Nvidia 8800 GT and then go up to the 9800 next year.

X38 should do the trick with full PCI-E 2.0, P35 is PCI-E1.1, so will support the cards, jsut not give them the full bandwidth of PCI-E 2.0.

Although the 8800 GT will work on older mobos.

Back compatible to PCI-E 1.1 though

True but i wouldn't want it to have to drop to 1.1 and introduce an unnecessary bottleneck.

Haven't really thought of this before...

easyrider, have you had any issues on the gigabyte board with 4 gig of ram? running vista 64 i take it?

Did x8 PCI-E 1 bottleneck the early PCI-E 1 gfx cards? Will anything really need 16x lanes at 2x bandwidth of PCI-E for the next year or so?

you wont be. its not a bottleneck now. pci-e 2.0 may way help with workstation gpu's used for number crunching though.
