PCI>E 3.0 Bottleneck on a 2.1 Mobo?

Many must be in the same boat as me, but have an older generation motherboard which supports only the 2.1 interface. Will this be a big limitation for a single gpu unit or only apply when going sli/crossfire?

I'm on a 2600k with a p67a-ud4 board and really dont want to be bottlenecked.

So far PCI Express 3 has only shown gains in compute benchmarks, games just don't need that sort of bandwidth yet.

Bandwidth might become an issue with multigpu setups, think quad crossfire and eyefinity.
other than that, no.

Considering cards only lose about 1-3% performance from 2.0 x16 to 2.0 x8 (Same bandwidth as 1.0 x16), it's very unlikely a 2.1 interface will limit a 3.0 card. Only thing that can take advantage of so much bandwidth is computing. Games probably won't use that extra bandwidth yet for a long time.

Basicaly no. Although the article I read about this, said that there was a small increase around 5% ish...
